Dong Van Karst Plateau is one of the most outstanding destinations in Ha Giang Province and a true symbol of northern Vietnam’s tourism. In 2010, it was recognized by UNESCO as a Global Geopark for its exceptional geological significance, breathtaking landscapes, and rich indigenous culture.

Covering more than 2,300 square kilometers, the plateau spans four districts: Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van, and Meo Vac. The entire area resembles a vast open-air geological museum shaped over hundreds of millions of years.

The Unique Beauty of the Dong Van Karst Plateau

The most striking feature of the Dong Van Karst Plateau is its dramatic limestone mountain ranges, creating a rugged yet majestic landscape. Nestled among these rocky formations are peaceful valleys, ethnic villages, and terraced fields clinging to the mountain slopes.

The scenery changes beautifully with each season:

  • Spring brings blooming peach and plum flowers
  • Summer offers cool and refreshing weather
  • Autumn showcases clear skies and golden fields
  • Winter highlights the iconic pink and purple buckwheat flowers

Beyond its natural beauty, the plateau is home to ethnic communities such as the H’Mong, Lo Lo, Dao, Tay, and Nung, whose traditions add depth and authenticity to the destination.
